The Heritage Committee of the Islamic World Educational, Cultural and Scientific
Organization (ISESCO) concluded its tenth meeting by listing four Yemeni sites and
.archaeological monuments on the list of heritage in the Islamic world
The list included four sites and landmarks of Yemeni heritage, which combined
natural monuments, archaeological sites and intangible heritage, namely: Socotra
Archipelago, Sirah Castle in Aden, Sana’a singing, date palms, knowledge, skills,
.traditions and practices
Ambassador Ezzedine Saeed Al-Asbahi, Ambassador of Yemen to Morocco, received
from ISESCO Director General Dr. Salem bin Mohammed al-Malik and the Moroccan
Minister of Culture d. Mohamed Mahdi Bensaid, the shield and certificates of
registration of sites in a major international celebration, witnessed by the headquarters
of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in
.Rabat
Al-Asbahi explained that these monuments are part of another list that will be worked
on in order to preserve the Yemeni heritage and the various archaeological
.monuments, especially those that are endangered
He stressed that seizing any opportunity to document antiquities, monuments and
various aspects of Yemeni heritage remains a very important step, and that the concert
of official and unofficial efforts and the international community must be at the
highest level, especially with the increase in threats to the various landmarks of our
.heritage and archaeological sites
